T-BERD 5800 – Ethernet Layer 3 Multicast Traffic Generation
[MUSIC] Hello and
welcome to the VIAVi quick tip videos. In this video I will demonstrate how
to use T-BERD 5800 instrument to generate Layer 3 multicast traffic. Multicast traffic analysis and use of IGMP protocol on T-BERD 5800
is covered in a separate video. Layer 3 Multicast Traffic Generation is
supported with TBERD 5800 layer 3 and layer 4 traffic and multi stream terminate applications on any
interface supported on that instrument. I.e 10, 100, 1000 electrical,
1 gig optical, 10 gig optical and so on. To generate layer 3 multicast traffic
to multiple multicast groups, I will launch layer 3 multiple
streams IPv4 terminate test on TBERD 5800 first
electrical ethernet port. Once the test application is running,
I will navigate to setup an all stream tab and configure source IP, subnet mask and
default gateway parameters for my test port, such that they're aligned with
the network on the test IP addressing.
Next, I will tap on
the Stream Pipe button and configure streams to enable the desired
number of multicast traffic streams. Here I can enable up to
ten traffic streams. In my case, I will enable two and
assign them desired load values. Next, I will tap on the Setup button
to configure the two multicast stream parameters. Here I will select stream number one and
configure the desired packet length and destination multicast group IP address for
that stream. Next, I will move to stream two and
configure the packet length and destination multicast IP address as well. When multicast traffic streams are now
configured, I will move to the results screen and ensure that the T-BERD test
port has a link with the network on the test, as indicated by the green
sync acquired and link active LEDs.
As well as verify that the test port has
successfully completed an arp handshake with the default gateway. Finally, to start multicast
traffic generation, I will tap on the Streams Pipe button and
start traffic. [MUSIC] Thank you for watching and
good luck with your testing. [MUSIC].
